EAPS 77 Marine Geology
This course investigates the geology, processes, and paleoarchives hidden beneath the world’s oceans. The course material is necessarily broad, covering marine geography, plate tectonics, active and passive margins, coastal processes, ocean processes, sediment processes, and climate interactions. We will investigate a few specific concepts (case studies) in detail to relate the course material to current events and the recent scientific literature. A key component of this course is the collection and analysis of data. Students practice how to process, critically evaluate and synthesize geological data, and to construct, sound, logical, succinct arguments based on your analyses. We do not have a lab for this course, but I will introduce you to marine geological field methods throughout the term.
