EAPS 41 Mineralogy and Earth Processes

This course will take a mineralogical journey to the center of the Earth, introducing students to the mineralogical diversity of Earth from its surface to its deep interior and the different chemical, physical, biological, and geological processes that lead to this amazing array. Students will learn to identify several minerals in hand sample, by petrographic microscopic, through modern X-ray techniques, and in the field. At the end of the course, they will be able to use information recorded by different minerals to help explain larger-scale phenomena.

EAPS 040; or Instructor Permission.
