HIST 96.36 Research in the History of American Capitalism: Energy, Environment, Innovation, Enterprise

This seminar is designed to support research projects in the history of U.S. capitalism, broadly understood as the interactions among resources, ideas, structures, institutions, and actors from the era of Reconstruction to the twenty-first century. Students will produce an article-length, historically sound argument grounded in original primary-source research under one of four broad umbrellas: environmental history; the history of energy systems and sources; the history of technology; or the history of business, finance, work, production, and distribution.
