MUS 50.52 World Music Performance Lab

World Percussion Performance Lab is a “hands-on” course, i.e., on drums and other percussion instruments with a focus on instruments whose origins are in Africa. Lab members participate in weekly ensemble rehearsals in which they work toward preparation of a final performance, joined by professional musicians, at the end of each term. Music making is contextualized within broader cultural practices in Africa with the aim of demonstrating the central place of music in community life.
