MUS 37.01 Songwriting 2: Songwriter's Workshop

The second installment of the 3-course Songwriting sequence is meant for students who have begun a songwriting practice and are prepared for the challenging task of writing and performing a new song every week for 8 weeks. This class demands a rigorous weekly practice of songwriting, listening, sharing and critique. We will look broadly at songwriting techniques from many genres and traditions, and we will acquire powerful tools for unlocking and understanding the musicality that exists in language, and the meaning that can unfold from harmonic, melodic and sonic gestures.
