ENVS 80.21 Fungi: Science and Science Fiction

Could a fungi turn me into a murderous zombie? Are fungi the key to climate mitigation? Do trees talk to each other using underground fungal networks? Will fungi solve global plastic pollution? The line between fact and fiction is often blurred in the way fungi are portrayed in popular media. In this course, we journey across the mycoverse to analyze the evidence of common fungal claims regarding the role of fungi in ecosystems, human health, and culture.
