HIST 33 Asian American History
This course provides an introductory overview of Asian immigration to the United States from the 18th to 21st centuries. We address the following questions: Why did Asians move to the United States? How did they change American history and culture? And how has the United States responded to their presence? Topics include the formation of early ethnic enclaves; anti-Asian immigration legislature; Western imperialism in Asia; national identity, incarceration, surveillance, and religion; and Asian American activism.
