ENGS 43 Environmental Transport and Fate

This course is an introduction to groundwater and groundwater resources. A series of case studies are used to introduce the physical, chemical, technical aspects of groundwater budgets, groundwater resource evaluation (including well hydraulics and numerical modeling), geothermal energy systems, and the transport and fate of contaminants. The case studies also provide insight into the complexity of sustainable groundwater resource management through the exploration of the ideas of safe yield, surface-groundwater interactions, and water quality standards.
