QBS 131 Foundations of Epidemiology II: Theory and Methods
This graduate-level course is the second in a two-part sequence. The two courses are designed to teach the underlying theory of epidemiologic study design and to prepare students to conduct epidemiological research. Expanding upon concepts covered in Foundations of Epidemiology I, students will develop proficiency in advanced control of confounding (including causal diagrams), interpretation and critical analysis of the biomedical primary literature, and gain experience in epidemiological study design. Students will also learn to evaluate the weight of evidence through systematic review, conduct an outbreak investigation, and assess the effects of policies on health.
