PSYC 123 Social Neuroscience

PSYC 123 (Social Neuroscience) is a seminar on how the brain gives rise to our social lives: how we tell a who from a what, read emotion in faces and voices, judge the actions of others, coordinate our minds, and think collectively. Rather than a lecture course, it is a discussion-driven seminar in which students work through primary research together. Throughout, the course asks students not only to master that literature but to interrogate it: What is missing? Why does it matter where in the brain something happens? How might our tools and paradigms be constraining our theories, and where should the field go next?
