MES 12.19 Covering the Middle East: From News Reporting to Long-Form Non-fiction

This course introduces students to journalism fundamentals and media literacy before moving on to the challenges of covering the Middle East for U.S. and international audiences. Students will learn to distinguish news from opinion, develop critical reading habits, and practice reporting and writing skills focused on current events in the Middle East. They will learn to write about the region with nuance, and to evaluate the Middle East coverage that they read in the US media.
