PH 152 Leading Change in Health Policy

This course will explore different approaches to leading change in health policy. The students will begin the class by examining two popular models used in healthcare leadership literature. The exploration will then go beyond those leadership models and meditate on the philosophical and psychological constructs that underlie those teachings. The focus of this in-depth examination will offer students a method to execute a multi-stakeholder analysis and develop strategies to be influential in leading policy changes. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply these teachings to a health care policy issue of their choice, generate specific action items pertaining to identified stakeholder groups, and be able to concisely articulate their policy position.  By the end of the course students will also gain insights on their own leadership style as they continue to influence change moving forward.
