EEER 11.02 Media and Mind Control

What is media, and how does it shape not only our perceptions and understanding of the world but also ourselves and our shared reality? This course will examine influential conceptualizations (theoretical, literary, cinematic) of media and its interaction with selves in different social, political, and economic systems. Our primary case studies are the United States and Russia as examples of state controlled authoritarian and liberal democratic media systems in the 20th and 21st centuries.
